- Tell us how have you originally got the idea to enter Eurovision?
- "Eurovision" is an unique opportunity for the young singer to show himself to the huge number of spectators, to show what he is capable of. Surrounded by rumours and scandals that accompany this festival every year, unfortunately sometime to the second plan goes the very essence of the competition - that is the musical competition of young performers from different countries. Originally, I applied for participation in "Eurovision" from Ukraine, a country where I live. In the semifinals of the national selection, I sang song "Vsyo dlya tebya", which I performed during my participation in the "Stars Factory". Especially for this qualificiation round the song was translated into Ukrainian. But for some reason suddenly it appeared that in the semifinals one can not perform his older songs. Moreover, such rules were not included in any regulations. The essence of the semifinals, how I feel that, is a demonstration of vocal abilities of the performer. And for the final, as prescribed in the regulations, we have prepared a completely new song - "Mamo". But I was not allowed to take part in the final. And when even the court recognized that the truth is on my side, I have already applied for participation in the Russian selection. Seems it was the fate.

- How can you describe your contest entry in one sentence?
- I can not do it in one phrase. I think it is a deeper story, and it can not be put into any borders.

- Did you take active part in its creation? If not, what was your reaction after the first listen?
- When an amateur tries to suggest something to professionals - it will not end well. I fully trust Konstantin Meladze: along with Diana Golde he wrote an incredible song. When you listen to it, the soul is torn, sorry for pathetics, but it is true. In my opinion, the song really exists, when the last note has been already played but the music in your head continues. And then you are full of emotions that you can not describe. Kostya Meladze has such a gift. And my task is to transfer those emotions he put into music to the audience.

- Why did you decide to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest in a mixture of Russian and Ukrainian languages?
- I was born in the USSR, my Mom is Ukrainian, my Dad is Russian. I do not even talk about the spiritual and historical affinity that exists between our two countries. It could be a sin to forget about this.

- Do you plan to record English, full Russian or other versions of the song?
- I would even like to sing this song in many languages.

- What aim have you put for you for the Eurovision?
- My main goal is to perform in a such way, to make sure that viewers who voted for me in the national preselection, are not disappointed, and professionals who work with me, are not ashamed.

- Your preparations for the contest is not very widely publicized in the press. Tell us how it goes? Do you work with some coaches? Have you already started the rehearsals of final presentation?
- When there is a lot of chatter, there is few of work (laughs). In fact, all my time now is devoted solely to "Eurovision". Even when I sleep, dreams about the competition do not leave me alone. Rehearsals are constantly ongoing. I will not reveal the idea of performance - you"ll see it for yourself. I will simply say that I"m learning now to walk on high heels and I"m on diet. This is an horror! (laughs)

- What are your feelings about the materials on you that are regularily appearing in the tabloids? Do you feel any extra pressure in this regard?
- Of course, I was so hurt, as I am a normal person. After each article against my participation representing Russia, I hardly restrain my tears. But first of all, I understand that such publications are inevitable, everyone wishes to have the last word. And secondly, what does not kill makes us stronger. This experience is very useful.

- Do you plan to visit other countries before the contest? Generally, do you find a promo tour as an important aspect of preparations for the Eurovision?
- I would be happy to go on the promo-tour. And in order to feel the reaction of viewers in different countries, to get acquainted with the representatives of these countries, and, of course, to see those countries where I wasn"t before. But together with Konstantin Meladze, we decided that we use the time to prepare for the competition. We wanted to film the music video, increasingly engage in singing, choreography, to develop my image. So we had to sacrifice the promotional tour.

- You have filmed rather unusual video for your song, whether you agree with how director Alan Badoev saw your song and your image?
- He was very accurate seeing me, and my song. I lived in this video, emotions there were not played.

- Will your stage performance in the finals will be similar to the one we"ve seen in the Russian preselection? Or do you plan to make any changes for an international audience?
- Of course, everything will be different. But let us keep the details secret.

- Will your appearance also undergo changes? In recent performances we see you mostly in red dress, on the heels, and with different hair styles, though your fans are mostly used to see you in quite different way?
- It"s true, I do not like heels. Well, being honest: I hate them! We have been thinking for a long time, what will be the best image for me to perform at the contest. And - oh the horror! - we all together came to the conclusion that we can not do it without the heels (laughs). Now, when I put my legs off the bed early in the morning, I do not put on soft slippers, but shoes on a high heels. Here and there on the floor there even are dents from the heels. But what girl is not pleased to be masculine today and tomorrow "Lady in red"?

- If you have been preparing for Eurovision yourself and were personally determining all the lines of preparations, will you support all the steps made by your team?
- Performance at the "Eurovision" - is the result of the work of big team. Is stupid to deny it and attribute all the merit only to myself. And I am very appreciative of every member of this team. This is the first such experience in my life, many things required for Eurovision I could not even guess. Without the team we would not get anything.

- What do you consider more important for success at Eurovision: song, artist, or a show?
- This is the same as to attempt to answer the question what is the most important thing in the song: the lyrics or the music. If anyone knew the formula for the success of the artist, the others would have to leave the stage. You can evaluate the different components of the performance, but they stay as the components only. Picture without any element will not be complete.

- Sometimes Eurovision is being labelled as a political contest. Do you agree with it?
- Without me there are many analysts who will do a researches and explanations to different facts. But the task of the artist is first of all to please the audience.

- Addition of jury vote is a welcomed change for you?
- In my opinion, the popular vote is more democratic system. But on the other hand, there are positive things in those changes too: you can find out not only the opinion of spectators, but also the opinion of professionals. As a result, for the winner of "Eurovision-2009", this victory would be doubly important.

- Had you a chance to listen to the other competing entries? Anything worth to mention?
- Can we go to the contest, without knowing the opponents" faces (smiling)? Of course, I have heard all the songs. I liked a lot entries by Inga and Anush Arshakyan from Armenia, Alexander Rybak from Norway, Nelly Ciobanu from Moldova. From all the songs those are closest to me.

- Are you working on your solo album now? When it is planned and we can expect from it?
- So far all I do is related to the "Eurovision". Let"s first experience this, and then we can talk about further plans.

- I would like to say that such competitions as the "Eurovision", make us a little closer to each other. We live in a world where everyone has so many problems, when sometimes there is no even enough time to share our worries. Music helps us to become closer to each other. Let"s cherish these moments.
